Can i forgo the wedding reception?
Long story short -- I've been engaged 7 months, getting married in 6 months. my fiance is my soulmate. I have been in love with a beautiful church in my community since i was a little girl. I would drive by and envision my wedding there. i will be getting married there. I have 150 guests, about 15 from out of town. I want to skip the wedding reception entirely. no cake & punch suggestions please lol. I have heard this is rude, but I feel those who really love us will be there no matter what, for the most important part -- our vows of commitment. my family is my family, but they are snobby as can be. even if i spend 100k on a reception, they will still talk smack. the fiance and i just bought a house, and i would rather invest the money into our home. backyard wedding, bbq, cake&punch reception? no thanks. I just want to know if its ok to do our ceremony, say hello to all of our guests, invite the immediate fanily to dinner, and then voyage off to our honeymoon. :)
