How do I tell my friend I just don't like him that way?

Okay I know this guy. He is an awesome friend but that all I see for us is just friends nothing more. He might be getting the wrong message because I tell him I love him and Miss him all the time but I do that with all my friends. today was the homecoming dance aand I asked him to be my dance partner and all we did was dance together for one slow song and that was it but he held me close and it seemed like he was giving me huggs the whole entire time we danced togther and then he started holdin my hand but rite when he grabbed my hand I told him I had to go and talk to a friend. I thought it was Awkward but he is a good friend he makes me laugh
